Burial or cremation

During your first contact with Te Awahou Funeral Services  our funeral director will ask you whether the person who has died wished to be buried or cremated. The choice – burial or cremation – determines which kind of medical certificate we are legally required to obtain.

Burial

Te Awahou Funeral Services  arranges all the details for the final resting place. Burials can be arranged in most cemeteries either in existing graves or in new plots. We provide a grave marker in the form of a wooden cross when a new plot is purchased. You have the choice of a single plot or double depth plot in case another loved one wishes to be buried on top or ashes to be buried at a later stage.

Cremation

In New Zealand cremation is now a widely accepted alternative to burial. Te Awahou Funeral Services use Kelvin Grove Cemetery for cremation services, nice setting and chapel Available. we can also use other crematoriums over the district.  

The ashes will generally be available After 2-3 days of cremation.
