Our Team

Jayden Moore

Owner/Funeral Director/Embalmer

I am Jayden Moore, 25, and the owner of Te Awahou Funeral Services.
I have a strong connection with the local community through being involved in many organisations. One being the voluntary Chair of the Foxton Tram Society.Outside of work I enjoy fishing, socializing, the company of my  whanau/friends and my pet Labradors.Te Awahou/Foxton is a great little town full of community spirit, togetherness and its residents embrace the concept of manaakitanga/hospitality, respect, generosity and care. From humble beginnings in 2017, Te Awahou Funeral Services has evolved far beyond the traditional model, with more options available than ever before. While some families still prefer traditional funerals, many others want more flexibility. We work with every family, meeting their needs in what is a highly emotional, and difficult time. We give empathy, comfort, and reassurance to the grieving.  We lift the weight, giving them the time to honor the departed and reflect on the legacy of their lives. None of this would be possible without the support, commitment and professionalism from all my staff.

Ngā mihi nui ki a koe/Thank you

Te Awahou Funeral Services Where we Honour and Celebrate Life

Marina Bennett

Owner/Embalmer/Funeral Director

Kia Ora,

My name is Marina Bennett and I currently reside in Foxton Beach with my Partner Dave, and our fur and feathered babies.

We have six sons and one daughter between the two of us, and three Mokos.

I have been in the Funeral industry for four years now. From the start of the very first lockdown March 2020 I was lucky to have the opportunity to train as a funeral director /embalmer at Beauchamp’s Funeral Home in Palmerston North. I am very grateful for the professional guidance and training they provided me with.

I chose the funeral industry because I have always had a passion for taking care of families’ loved ones and doing my very best to make them look at peace for their final send off. I have deep empathy for bereaving families, and I am passionate about helping people through the process.

I enjoy being part of Te Awahou Funeral Services, we are a small team, and we have a great working relationship. We have a strong connection with all families in our care and we end up creating a forever lasting bond with whanau and friends we guide through the funeral process.

Bereaved families are always my priority, however when I do get some down time, I like to spend time with my whanau and friends and most importantly my fur and feathered babies.

Nga mihi

Brooke Burns

Social Media & Funeral day tech

Kia Ora,

My name’s Brooke Burns, 23, from Waitarere Beach. I live with my fiance Stanley, daughter Lauri and our three dogs, one cat and five horses.

I joined Te Awahou Funeral Services in January 2024, using my knowledge around technology and social media to create powerpoint presentations for services and to help grow Te Awahou Funeral Services Facebook and Instagram pages. I have truly fallen in love with this profession and hope to continue to further expand my knowledge under Jayden and Marinas guidance in providing personalised care for grieving whanau.

I chose the funeral industry because I know firsthand how hard grief can affect you, and how important it is to have someone to talk to who can help you navigate what to do next. The compassion and empathy that Jayden and Marina provide is unmatched and I feel privileged to work alongside them.

When I’m not being a mum, or riding my horses across the farm, I enjoy giving back to my local equestrian community, being Head Coach at Waikanae Pony Club, as well as a regular coach for Moutoa Pony Club. I spent many years on the Wellington Area Trail Riding Club committee and still continue to volunteer any time I can. I also am actively involved in XLR8 Equine NZ who run Recycled Ribbon Shows across the North Island.

I look forward to continuing to provide the absolute best care I can offer to all our whanau who come through our doors,

Nga Mihi
